Having said that, it is equally true that a serious criminal case is no time for your lawyer to be in training!
I was admitted to the Washington State Bar in July 1976, and began my career over 31 years ago in the same office building where I still headquarter my practice in Ellensburg.
There aren't too many crimes in the Washington criminal code that I haven't handled. Over the years that challenge has taken me all over the State of Washington. I choose now to limit my practice to Central Washington.
