Ordinarily the initial Retainer Fee is paid "up front". That is followed by an Advanced Fee Deposit that is due when we meet to analyze the evidence. The remaining fee for a Contested Case Without Trial, or a Bench Trial or a Jury Trial (See My Fee Structure) can be paid in payments in amounts agreed upon, usually either $50 or $100 per month. In the alternative, I do have the following payment plans: Full Payment Discounts - There are 2 options. If you prefer to pay in advance the full Contested Case Without Trial fee (instead of just the Advanced Fee Deposit), you may reduce your total fee by 10%. Or, if you would prefer to pay the entire balance of your bill in full within 30 days of billing, you may reduce your total fee by 5%. The Retainer Fee - There are 3 options. The Retainer Fee may be paid by debit card, credit card, or by a bail assignment (if you paid a cash bail, a bail assignment is a document you can sign that returns the bail to us at the end of the case, to be applied toward your fee). The Advanced Fee Deposit -There are 3 options. Instead of paying the full quoted advanced fee deposit, you may either pay ½ of it if you would prefer to provide either an acceptable co-signor or provide an acceptable vehicle title as security. Or, you may choose not to pay any advanced fee deposit at all, if you would prefer to secure it by means of a mortgage on acceptable real estate (a mortgage does not transfer title, but merely secures the debt by a lien against the title). Bartering -- Bartering can sometimes be negotiated on an individual basis. If you are interested, please let me know when you talk with me. Waiver of Fee - Although not frequent, I do occasionally accept a case pro bono (without fee). Routine cases are not handled pro bono. To be accepted for pro bono representation, a case must present unusually compelling legal issues or involve extraordinary factual circumstances that appeal to my sense of avoiding a miscarriage of justice. To be considered, you will need to outline your case merits in either an email or letter. |
