On a 1st offense, your commercial driver's license will be suspended for
1 year (3 years if hauling hazardous material) if:
- You are found guilty of a 1st offense D.U.I. in either a private or a commercial vehicle, or
- You refused a breath or blood test, or
- You were driving a commercial vehicle with a .04 or higher breath test
A 2nd D.U.I., or a 2nd breath test refusal or a 2nd breath test reading of .04 in a commercial vehicle will disqualify your CDL for life. No exceptions.
To reinstate your CDL, you must:
- Re-qualify
- Submit a satisfactory alcohol/drug assessment and prove satisfactory commencement of any recommended classes and/or treatment
- Pay a reinstatement fee
